Floating structures and miscellaneous components

A) EVALUATION AND CERTIFICATION OF FLOATING STRUCTURES

There are no EC regulations governing the sale of floating structures (hammocks, kayaks, pedal boats, …). If manufacturers want to prove that their products are suitable to the market and the authorities, they need a third-party certification that assures they have been certified independently

EUROCONTROL assesses whether floating structures conform to standards according to UNE, EN, ISO or SAE standards, or regulations of other countries,  and performs the appropriate measurements and tests in each case.

B) EVALUATION AND CERTIFICATION OF MISCELLANEOUS COMPONENTS

EC marking of components: The components expressly mentioned in Annex II of Directive 94/25/EC require a conformity assessment before being put on sale when they are manufactured independently.
1. Ignition-protected equipment for inboard and stern drive engines.

2. Start-in-gear protection devices for outboard engines.

3. Steering wheels, steering mechanisms and cable assemblies.

4. Fuel tanks and fuel hoses.

5. Prefabricated hatches and portlights.

If they are manufactured by and for the construction shipyard itself and intended for the that is going to be sold, components 3, 4 and 5 are covered by the CE marking of the vessel (See CE MARKING OF SHIPS section)

There are no EC regulations governing the sale of components not included in the above list (pumps, fans, tanks, hoses, …). If manufacturers want to prove that their products are suitable to the market and the authorities, they need a third-party certification that assures they have been certified independently.

EUROCONTROL assesses whether miscellaneous components conform to standards according to UNE, EN, ISO or SAE standards, or other regulations,  and performs the appropriate measurements and tests in each case.
